Cereplast, Inc., a manufacturer of proprietary bio-based, sustainable plastics, has partnered with CSI/Cosmolab to develop bioplastic packaging materials for cosmetics. CSI/Cosmolab manufactures injection-molded plastic packaging for the cosmetics and personal care industries, and will use materials from the Cereplast Hybrid Resins walled jars and closures. The partnership with Cereplast extends CSI/Cosmolab’s efforts into sustainability. The company recently introduced products made from PCR (Post Consumer Resin), a blend of recycled polypropylene resins otherwise destined for landfills. Biopropylene, the first in the Cereplast Hybrid Resins line, is comprised of 50% petroleum and 50% starch-based resin, while exhibiting physical characteristics similar to traditional polypropylene. –
